Social Media Content US Economics Olympiad · ae creates, 2026

Introduction

USAEO, the US Economics Olympiad, needed social content that could speak to two very different audiences without breaking from one visual system. Students deciding whether to compete, and teachers deciding whether to bring the opportunity into their classroom. Same brand, same competition, two completely different reasons to care.

The Brief

Build a content series that stays instantly recognizable as USAEO while shifting the message depending on who's actually looking at it. It needed to work as a scroll stopper on its own, and it needed a clear next step, since the entire point of the post is getting someone to comment and follow up.

The Concept

Both posts run on the same headline structure with one word swapped. Are You A High School Student Interested In Business Or Economics becomes Are Your Students Interested In Business Or Economics. Same rhythm, same question, just handed to a different person. It's a small move, but it means the design system only had to be built once and it still speaks directly to two audiences.

The headline treatment itself works like a highlighter run across a page. Key phrases sit inside solid color blocks instead of just being bold or large, which makes the text impossible to skim past. The photography backs this up with real, grounded settings, a brick wall, a desk with a calculator, rather than generic stock imagery, each one framed in a circular crop with the brand color running around the edge.

Visual System

Navy carries most of the weight and keeps the brand feeling serious rather than flashy, which fits a national academic competition. Orange is used sparingly and only where it needs to grab attention first, the headline, the CTA, the one line a teacher or student has to read before anything else.

The interlocking circular mark and consistent USAEO lockup anchor every post, so even without reading a word, the brand is identifiable at a glance.

Bringing It to Life

The student facing post leads with a direct question and a real face, someone the target audience can picture themselves as. The teacher facing post flips the angle, opening with the calculator and closing with a plain ask, comment ECON and get the details to share with your class. Different entry points, same simple action at the end.

Conclusion

Two audiences, one system, one consistent ask. The content does the work of explaining what USAEO is and who it's for, without needing a caption to do the heavy lifting.
